Knox City Council Approves Donation of up to $10,000 for Constellation of Starke

To help cover some preliminary costs associated with Constellation of Starke’s regional development plan, Knox City Council members were asked to authorize a monetary donation during their meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Dennis Estok explained that the municipalities involved with Starke County’s Regional Stellar Communities initiative are being asked to help split the cost of hiring a consultant to assist with the process.

When county commissioners met earlier this month, they approved a donation of up to $20,000 to be taken from the bridge CEDIT fund, at the recommendation of County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritlzer.

During Tuesday’s Knox city council meeting, members unanimously agreed to provide a monetary contribution of up to $10,000. Mayor Estok noted that the funds will likely come from the city’s CEDIT fund.

The topic of hiring a consultant will be addressed more when the Constellation of Starke Stellar Executive Team members meet at the SCEDF office later this afternoon.
