Knox Water Department Strategizes about Installs on SR 8

The Knox Water Department is planning ahead for some future water installs that will be going in around State Road 8 and Williams Street.

When the Board of Works met last week, Board members Steve Dodge asked Interim Town Superintendent Tim Vogelzang if a new house that was built on SR 8 had water and sewer hooked up to it.

Vogelzang replied that they haven’t put anything in yet, but it’s because more development is planned there.

He explained, “We’re planning that out because there’s going to be four more additional houses put on over there in that area but we will be doing five water installs there.”

Vogelzang noted that officials at the Water Department are currently discussing the details related to the eventual project.

He said, “We’re working on how we’re going to strategically get the water line across the road either from 8, from the south side to the north side or on Williams from the east side to the west side.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston inquired about how the existing houses in the area are supplied with water.

Vogelzang answered, “The houses that are on Williams come from Williams and the ones that are on the north side of 8 actually run underneath that state road.”

Vogelzang mentioned that some extra paperwork will need to be completed and turned into the state in order to do any work involving the highway. He said they’ll be working on that documentation as well as additional planning for the area over the next month or so.
