Knox City Police Chief Receives Applications for Reserve Officers

Applications are being accepted for Reserve Officers on the Knox City Police Department.

Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith told the Board of Works members last week that he received about seven requests for applications but only two were returned.  He began accepting applications on June 1.

Smith previously mentioned that reserve officers would assist fulltime officers with patrols, as well as school functions such as basketball and football games. They would also be a presence in the parks and other areas in the city to deter crime.

Reserve officers would work on a volunteer basis.  They must complete state mandated training and continue with training through the police department.
