Two Charged with Drug Offenses Plead Guilty in Starke Circuit Court

Anthony Caudill

Two defendants charged in separate incidents involving drugs pleaded guilty in plea agreements Thursday morning.

Anthony Caudill, 39, of Knox, pleaded guilty on Level 6 Felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.  He admitted to Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall that on April 8, 2019, police pulled over the car he was driving as he failed to use a turn signal and the vehicle crossed the center line a couple of times.  During the traffic stop, officers found three syringes in his backpack along with methamphetamine.

On both counts as presented in the plea agreement negotiated by the State and the defense, Caudill was sentenced to 15 months in the Starke County Justice Center with 9 months suspended to be served on probation.  The executed portion of his sentence was permitted to be served on home detention.  The sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time.

With good time credit, Caudill would be released to serve his time on probation.

Adam Wagers

Adam Wagers, 30, of Grovertown, pleaded guilty to a Level 5 Felony count of dealing in methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.  He admitted to Judge Hall that on Oct. 16, 2018, he was at the Grovertown Truck Stop when a person he was with was accused of stealing something from the business.  An officer arrived and when Wagers got out of the car with his hands raised he told police that he had drugs in the car.  In a search, officers found a scale and individual baggies of methamphetamine.

Per the terms of the plea agreement between the State and the defense, Wagers was sentenced to 5 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with 1 year suspended to be served on probation.  He will need to participate in the Recovery while Incarcerated program in the DOC.  He told Judge Hall that he participated in the Intense Outpatient Program facilitated by Porter-Starke Services and said it was one of the best programs he’s attended.

This sentence will run consecutively to any other sentences received in pending matters in Marshall County and St. Joseph County.
