The Winamac Town Park has been a busy place this summer. In addition to the Pulaski County Fair and Northern Indiana Power from the Past, Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told the park board last Thursday that there have also been a number of smaller events and group visits.

“The color run, there was a boatload of people down there for the color run. It was very nice,” he said. “Kiwanis had their kids’ day July 30. They had a very good turnout. Team 224, the bicyclists out of Ohio, I believe, they visited the park, several, several bicyclists.”

On top of that, DeLorenzo reported that the park has had four visits from Cannonball Productions. The group brings busloads of tourists from Chicago for a day of tubing – and often drinking – on the Tippecanoe River.

Park Board President Chris Schramm said that most of the past concerns with the group, such as increased garbage and speeding buses, appear to have been resolved, with just a few exceptions. “I went by there Sunday, and there’s one of the buses parked on the road, which, they probably didn’t want to get in the grass, and some trash around. I just got a little perturbed about that. But when the bus left, the people that fed them, they picked it all up, so I was real happy with that,” Schramm commented.

DeLorenzo said there have also been a number of reunions and gatherings in the park, and a wedding was scheduled this past weekend at the pavilion.
