Knox Mayor Updates Council on Owner-Occupied Rehab Grant Program

The City of Knox will soon be bidding out work for five of the homes that have been approved for the Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Grant Program.

Mayor Dennis Estok informed the City Council Tuesday night that they’re seeking interested contractors.

Estok said, “If you know any local contractors, the main thing is roofs, plumbing and electrical. There are some specifications that a contractor has follow but I haven’t gotten them yet. I know one thing is that you don’t get paid as soon as you’re done. I think they told us there’s a 30 to 90-day wait.”

Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston noted that they’ll be having a meeting with program officials to go over the associated criteria.

Mayor Estok explained that there are five more home-owners who are currently in the vetting process to qualify for assistance through the grant program.
