Constellation of Starke Reps Make Plans for Additional Community Outreach in August

Efforts are being made to inform more residents about Constellation of Starke and the region’s mission to be designated a Stellar Community.

Constellation of Starke representatives attended the Mint Festival back in June and then during the month of July, team members set up tables at the Starke County 4-H Fair in Hamlet, the Back-to-School Community Health Fair at Knox Health Linc and the Bass Lake Festival.

While attending these events, reps provided engaged with the community, answered questions and heard memories, stories and ideas from people living in and visiting the Constellation of Starke region. They also passed out informational bookmarks and stickers with the region’s logo.

In addition to these efforts, the executive team has been making plans to host another community outreach event later this month.

The first public engagement event held in May attracted nearly 100 people!

Attendees of May’s Public Engagement Meeting

During that meeting, residents were introduced to Constellation of Starke through an informative powerpoint presentation and a panel discussion lead by community leaders. A locally-made video that creatively captured the region and emphasized why the community would be an ideal candidate for the Stellar designation was also shown.

Individuals were also able to and engage in hands-on activities related to community development and learn more about the Stellar Communities program.

The purpose of the next event will be to fill people in on the Stellar process so far and to gather some more public input before the finalized regional development plan is submitted for consideration next month.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21st in the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center.
