A Winamac man was sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday morning after pleading guilty to a Level 6 Felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Matthew Shidler, 33, admitted to Judge Kim Hall that he possessed the drug after a search of his vehicle during a traffic stop in Knox on Oct. 28, 2018.
A plea agreement in this case was negotiated between Starke County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Micah Cox and Defense Attorney Richard Ballard which was accepted by Judge Hall. Per the terms of that agreement, Shidler was sentenced to 15 months in the Starke County Justice Center with all of the sentence suspended to be served on probation. He was ordered to pay a drug interdiction fee of $250 and all court costs. He may petition the court to modify his sentence at any time.
Judge Hall noted that this sentence will be served following the completion of a sentence in a case in Cass County. He is serving time on probation in that case.
