Pulaski Commissioners Approve Emergency Services Agreement for Tippecanoe Township

Monterey-area residents will continue to get emergency medical services from Culver. The Pulaski County Commissioners Monday approved an agreement with Culver EMS for services to Tippecanoe Township, despite the fact that Culver EMS is raising its annual fee from $6,000 to $6,500.

The commissioners had asked whether the county’s EMS department could cover the area instead, but after doing some research, EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo didn’t think that would be feasible. “Specifically in the winter, Culver’s got Highway 17 they can come down,” DeLorenzo told the commissioners Monday. “They’ve got a lot of main highways they can use, where there is no straight shot to Monterey from Winamac. So when the roads are bad, it would probably take us 25 minutes, half an hour, at least, just to get there.”

Part of the reason for the additional cost, according to Culver EMS, is that it’s upgrading from an EMT to a paramedic service.
