The Winamac Town Council was presented with a list of utility bill write-offs when members met Monday evening.
Clerk-Treasuer Melanie Berger mentioned that a portion of the write-offs were marked and those were accounts where funds may eventually be reimbursed.
She explained, “We’re going to try and get them through their State Income Tax Return once we get set up with the TRECS company.”
Berger noted that while they’re still in the process of finalizing their arrangement with the Tax Refund Exchange and Compliance System (TRECS) Company, authorizing the write-offs wouldn’t limit officials from utilizing the source to obtain certain payments in the future.
It was noted that the write-offs totaled $6,110.07 and members unanimously approved the entire amount.
