Culver Town Council Discusses Waste Hauling Rate for East Shore Corporation

The Culver Town Council members held more discussion on a request to reduce the pump-and-haul rate paid by the East Shore Corporation to treat waste at the Culver Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The East Shore Corporation’s wetland disbursement system failed last year which caused representatives to ask the town council to haul waste to be treated in the town’s facility. The original agreement was for eight cents a gallon.  Corporation Representative Brian Welch asked the council to reduce the fee to five cents while a subcommittee working on the issue recommended six cents.

In the end, the council voted to lower the fee to six cents a gallon.  The council members agreed that the fee could stay the same even when the summer season gears up and more product may be hauled.  It is the hope of corporation officials that a Conservancy District is in place by the summer.  More information concerning that including an agreement will be brought up during the council’s next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
