Eastern Pulaski School Board Approves $1.2 Million Additional Appropriation

The Eastern Pulaski School Board took action Wednesday to fix a nearly $1.2 million error in the 2020 budget. Board members approved an additional appropriation of that amount to the Debt Service Fund, at the recommendation of Superintendent Dara Chezem.

“We need to do this additional appropriation because when we uploaded the information into Gateway, it didn’t go,” Chezem explained. “And so it’s showing that we owe zero amount in out Debt Service, and that is incorrect. So this additional appropriation corrects that error and fixes that budget.”

It was noted that the correct amount was in the 2020 budget that board members approved last year, but for some reason, it didn’t make it into the state’s software. Wednesday’s additional appropriation marked the second time the school board had to correct an error in this year’s budget. It had to be rescinded and readopted at the board’s December meeting, also due to technical issues.
