The recording equipment used by court reporters in all Starke Circuit Court courtrooms will be updated following a decision by the Starke County Commissioners Monday night.
Starke Circuit Court Administrator Rachel Meadows and Financial Administrator Georgette Gibbs explained that the FTR recording software is no longer compatible with the operating systems of the computers. The Windows 10 upgrade was purchased, but the recording software was even not working with the Windows 7 operating system and won’t be operable with the new system.
The system is imperative as all hearings are recorded and used as a saved record in all cases. The system was known to crash in the middle of a hearing.
The quote for the new system from New Era is $15,117. The commissioners approved the purchase of the software out of the Cumulative Capital Development Fund.
