Culver Schools to Close through Mid-April, Officials to Provide Food Routes to Students

The Culver Community School Corporation will close until April 13 to take proactive steps to protect students, staff, teachers and the community surrounding COVID-19 concerns.

Monday, March 16 will be used as a waiver day while eLearning days will be utilized on Tuesday, March 17 through Thursday, March 19 with assignments due on Friday, March 20.  March 20 will be a waived day with no eLearning.  The same schedule will be used March 23-March 27.  Spring break is scheduled to begin March 30 and end April 10.  School is anticipated to resume on April 13.

During this time, Superintendent Karen Shuman commented that there will be no school activities, practices, sporting events, and/or gatherings of 250 or more on school grounds.

Shuman said the school corporation will be providing food routes to students March 17 through March 27.  The cafeteria staff will put together a free lunch for all students on the Free and Reduced meal plan.  If there is a student not on the list for Free and Reduced lunch, that student may be included to receive a lunch for a charge.  Notify the school corporation by noon on Monday, March 16.

The bus drivers will deliver food to students on their route beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET each school day prior to Spring Break.

Other school corporations are considering implementing a similar plan for meals.
