Eastern Pulaski School Board Accepts Principal’s Resignation, Appoints Interim Replacement

Winamac Community High School

Winamac High School Principal Jeremy Tucker’s resignation was formally accepted by the Eastern Pulaski School Board Monday. Tucker submitted his resignation letter on February 21. He had been on paid administrative leave since January 24, as school officials investigated allegations of misconduct.

During Monday’s meeting, the school board also appointed Mike Kelley to serve as interim principal until the end of the school year, at the recommendation of Superintendent Dara Chezem. “Mr. Kelley comes highly-recommended,” Chezem said. “He was assistant principal at Frankfort High School and then he was principal at Frankfort Middle School, before he was interim principal at Twin Lakes High School, and right now, he also is a mentor to new principals through the Indiana Principals Leadership Academy.”

Kelley has already been on the job at Winamac for about two weeks. He thanked board members for the opportunity and said it’s been an honor to get to know the students and staff. Kelley also said he wants students and parents to know him.

The school board agreed to post a job opening for a permanent principal, to start on July 1. A separation agreement was also approved as part of the personnel items.
