Knox City Council Approves Purchase of New Tables for Community Center

The Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center is getting new tables. The Knox City Council Tuesday approved the purchase of 38 tables from WebstaurantStore for just over $3,400.

Mayor Dennis Estok told council members, “We’ve already replaced some of the rectangular tables. What we’d like to do is replace all the round tables in there. They’re about 20 years old. Every person that we’ve hired to set up for events has always complained how heavy they are because they are very heavy to move around.” Estok said the new tables will be made of commercial-grade plastic.

While there’s money for the new tables in the budget, the mayor said the city should be able to recoup some of the cost by selling the old ones. He said a local church has offered almost $1,000 to buy all of them.
