West Central Middle/High School Principal Provides Update to School Board

West Central Middle/High School Principal Scott Ritchie told the school board members last week that students recently took the Certified Nurses Assistant State Exam and performed well on the exam.

“Eight students successfully passed the skills examination of the test,” commented Ritchie.  “Four of those students are ready for employment as a CNA and have accepted a job at a local nursing home.”

The CNA classes have been offered to students for a couple of years at West Central.

Additionally, Ritchie said the students will be practicing a simplified severe weather plan.

“We are sort of organizing those groups by classes.  The seventh grade will go somewhere and the eighth grade will go somewhere and there will be a standalone class so no matter where you’re at in the building, ‘I know I go there.’  They’ll keep that the whole way through their whole way through school.  When you’re a seventh grader and you’re assigned that storm shelter that’s your storm shelter until you’re a senior.”

The final practice will be during the Statewide Tornado Drill scheduled for Wednesday, March 18 at 10:15 a.m. ET in coordination with Severe Weather Preparedness Week.  In the event of inclement weather, the tornado drill will be postponed.
