Construction is moving on the Winamac Town Park’s new restrooms. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo gave an update to the town’s park board Thursday.

“They basically have the floor poured and the water lines ran, the drain lines ran,” DeLorenzo said, “and I think it’s just a matter of letting that concrete cure and Schambers coming back in and starting to lay block.”

Park Board President Jon Chapman added that the contractor thinks the block work could possibly be completed by the end of next week, with metal fabrication roofing to start the week after.

Meanwhile, the new equipment for the toddler playground has begun arriving, with more to be shipped closer to the planned installation date of June 9, according to Park Board Secretary Kim Burke.

The entire project will be funded, in part, by a Land and Water Conservation Fund matching grant distributed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Several organizations have also contributed funding for the playground, including the American Legion, Eagles, and Kiwanis Club.
