Culver Town Council Reviews Golf Cart Use during Pandemic

The Culver Town Council members reviewed situations with multiple people riding in golf carts around the municipal boundaries during the Public Health Disaster Emergency.

Town officials say they’re following all of the guidelines from the Indiana State Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Governor Eric Holcomb, and ask that people limited to one household to be out with each other.  In keeping with social distancing protocols, they are recommending that ridership be limited to a small number of people.

Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said it’s a great way to get outside while under the state’s stay-at-home order, but social distancing should be observed.  She also noted that residents should not go to restaurants in a golf cart to pick up food. The town council members recommend using a face mask when entering an open business or entering a restaurant to pick up food.

The golf cart ordinance may be amended to disallow use if residents don’t follow the recommendations.

In the meantime, permits are being issued when golf cart registration information is sent by mail or email.
