Pulaski County Public Library Celebrating National Library Week

The staff members at the Pulaski County Public Library are celebrating National Library Week and they welcome patrons to join them in a celebration at home.

This year’s theme is “Find the library at your place” to bring attention to library business online.

The library remains closed at this time, but Library Director MacKenzie Ledley says e-books are available on the library’s website at www.pulaskicounty.lib.in.us along with movies, online classes, and a lot more.  All of those items can be accessed from the comforts of home.

Ledley indicated that there is a wide array of virtual services, many of which can be downloaded by using the apps Libby or Hoopla.  However, the staff is willing to help by fielding phone calls at 574-946-3432.

Residents can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting the library’s website, following them on social media, or displaying the “I love my library” sign.

Ledley stated that longtime staff members Lera Mayer and Pat Ringen are writing letters to patrons, calling to check in on them, and indexing genealogy books. Michael Rose and Elaine Dunlop are focused on creating digital content and maintaining our digital infrastructure. Virginia Kennedy and Denise Hettinger are creating a digital program schedule for all ages, which will begin in May. Deena Lowry is handling all ordering and mail needs, while helping Virginia make sure the library maintains its monthly financial responsibilities. Lynda Irving remains committed to cataloging books, researching content for Flashback Fridays, and indexing newspapers. Susie Schultz will begin to work on a special project that will expand our services to the community in the coming weeks. Ronnie Newman, Pat VanLue, Jane Ellen Felchuk, and Hannah Wentz are standing by ready to assist when the building reopens.

Once the stay-at-home order is lifted, the library staff will resume curbside service.  Visit the website to reserve materials now.  Books are currently not due until June 1 and fines are not being assessed during the closure of the library.
