The Starke County Commissioners signed an Executive Order this week that closes the Bass Lake Beach and Campground in conjunction with the county’s Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources implemented partial closures to help curb the spread of COVID-19, and the commissioners want to follow that procedure with local properties. The Bass Lake Beach and Campground is now closed until the commissioners decide to lift the emergency declaration. Property offices and buildings are closed. People residing in a camper or cabin in the campground with no other residence may continue to shelter in place.
The Starke County Forest and other public outdoor spaces are open to hiking, exercise and outdoor recreation of groups of five or less. Those who utilize outdoor spaces must maintain a social distance.
Any playground equipment is off limits to visitors.
