Most Tyson Employees with COVID-19 Now Doing Well, According to State Health Commissioner

Those infected with COVID-19 at the Tyson meatpacking plant in Logansport are generally doing well, according to State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box. “Fortunately, the average age of those individuals was 40 or 42 – I can’t remember – so most of those individuals have done extremely well,” Box said during state officials’ COVID-19 press conference Monday.

The total number of cases in Cass County was at 1,552 as of Monday, with five confirmed deaths. Nearly half of the county’s tests came back positive. Box also confirmed that the state is now dealing with a similar situation at a meatpacking plant in Dubois County in Southern Indiana.

Governor Holcomb would not confirm whether Indiana will move to stage 3 of his Back on Track plan as scheduled Sunday. “We’re getting closer, and as a matter of fact, after this press conference, I’m meeting with all the docs – and there are many of them – because I have some outstanding questions,” Holcomb said. He expects to have an update on potential changes to his executive order on Wednesday.
