Pulaski County Employees to Return to Work Monday

Pulaski County Government employees who’d been allowed to stay home will have to return to work Monday. The president of the board of commissioners, Kenny Becker, has decided to rescind the county’s temporary workforce reduction policy as of Sunday at 11:59 p.m., according to a post on the Pulaski County Indiana Government Facebook page. That’s more than a week earlier than previously announced. It also means that county employees deemed essential will no longer get hazard pay starting Monday.

However, workers will still have to wear face coverings, as previously ordered by the commissioners. Members of the public will still have to make an appointment to visit a county office in person.

This is just the latest change in the temporary workforce reduction over the past several weeks. It was previously announced that it would end on April 20, but when that day came, the commissioners extended it by another two weeks. Most recently, the commissioners agreed to extend it through May 18, before the decision was made to rescind it effective at the end of the day on May 10.

Meanwhile, Pulaski County and many of its neighbors continue to see a steady increase in COVID-19 cases.
