Culver Town Council Extends Late Fee Forgiveness and Utility Shutoffs

Utility late fee forgiveness and shutoffs will be extended after action taken by the Culver Town Council this week.

Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the council members that resolutions passed shortly after a Governor’s Order was issued concerning a moratorium on late fees need to be amended to reflect an extension of late fee forgiveness and shutoffs for utility customers.

Leist explained, “The State came out with one date and I believe they extended it now until July 1 that you can’t do utility shutoffs.  With everything going on, I guess, and since they’ve already pushed the bar back two weeks from what we had, my recommendation is that we look to extend both of those dates until July 15.”

The town council voted unanimously to approve that request.

In Resolution No. 2020-004, it states that water payment arrangements conducted by the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office should allow repayment terms of up to 24 months for the customer to repay fees accumulated during the February, March and April 2020 service periods.  The extension could likely include May with Tuesday’s approval.
