Starke County Road 50 S. from State Road 39 to the Knox City Limits will be upgraded to hot mix asphalt beginning Monday, May 11. Officials from the Starke County Highway Department say it is a major route for the Knox Industrial Park and will benefit both employers and employees.
Funding for the new truck route was provided by the Indiana Department of Transportation through its Community Crossings Matching Grant program in the amount of $731,580 with a local match of 25 percent. The local match will be coming from the County Economic Development Income Tax Fund.
Walsh and Kelly crews will work on the county’s newest truck route which is expected to take a couple of weeks, depending on weather.
