The City of Knox is hosting its first movie in the park of the year tonight. “Playmobil: The Movie” will be shown at the Wythogan Park performance stage at 8:30. Before the movie, Kalita, Master of Magic will perform, starting at 7:30.
Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday that tonight’s turnout will determine whether the city goes ahead with more Movies in the Park. “We’ll see how that goes,” he said. “Like I said before, on all these events, if we get a halfway decent turnout, we’ll have another one. If we don’t, then that means the people aren’t ready to get out.”
Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs, as well as their own hand sanitizer. People are asked to stay at least six feet away from other groups, and residents should stay home if they’re sick. If it rains, the movie will be moved to tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Estok says the city is planning a concert in the park for Saturday, July 18 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. “Jerry O’Fonics Band is playing, and they are a top 40 rock and a pop cover band,” Estok explained. “They’re very good. They play at a lot of Notre Dame’s pep sessions. I’ve heard them.”
Estok said if it goes well, more concerts will he held this summer.
