North Judson Police Investigate Vandalism

Officers from the North Judson Police Department are investigating the act of vandalism in the downtown area.

Some individual(s) spray-painted wording on the North Judson Police Department building on Keller Avenue, and the North Judson Town Hall and the Heartland Market buildings on Lane Street stating “RIP Floyd”, “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice No Love”, plus some vulgar language.

North Judson Town Council President John Rowe said the graffiti was found on the Police Department’s building around 2 a.m. CT and the rest was found a little while later.  Town Marshal Kelly Fisher began efforts in response soon after notification of the vandalism.  Joe Leszek with the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department and Fisher worked to start gathering resources to clean up the area with the help of a powerwashing company in Knox that has chemicals to help remove spray paint.  The use of industrial power washers from Roger Chaffins, Jr. and Brown Farm, Inc. aided the effort.

Rowe said about 60 to 70 people started to show up to help remove the graffiti.  Rowe commented it was quite the community spirit shown in the Town of North Judson.

He added that this action will not be tolerated and the investigation is ongoing.
