U.S. 35 will be closed north of LaPorte for utility work starting Thursday. The Indiana Department of Transportation says the road will be closed for about three weeks between State Road 39 and the Indiana Toll Road.
NIPSCO plans to remove casing from the gas transmission under U.S. 35. The official detour uses State Road 39 and U.S. 20.
