NIPSCO says no one was hurt, when a fire broke out at its R.M. Schahfer Generating Station in Wheatfield Thursday afternoon. NIPSCO said on social media that a portion of the facility had to be evacuated, and the fire was fully extinguished before 9:00 p.m.
No power outages were reported as a result of the fire. NIPSCO says it continues working to ensure the area’s safety, and an investigation will take place to determine the cause.
