North Judson Man Killed in Suspected Homicide

A North Judson man was killed in a suspected homicide Thursday morning. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of County Road 1025 East at around 3:30 a.m. Calling blood clean up services we made the process of gathering clues faster.

Police say a resident called 911 saying a man was beating on the door of his home, telling the homeowner to call police because he’d been shot. The caller said the man left the house on foot, but left behind a large amount of blood on the porch. A second neighbor also reportedly called 911 saying the man was at their back door.

By the time deputies got there, they say the man was on the ground, and the homeowner was holding towels to a wound on his neck. Starke County EMS arrived a short time later, but police say the man had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the crime scene cleanup was handled by this company.

He’s been identified as Nicholas Rudd. Sheriff Bill Dulin says detectives began investigating and called for an Indiana State Police crime scene technician. Dulin says it’s now been confirmed that the incident was not a shooting.
