Starke County Veterans War Memorial Plaza Fundraising Efforts Ongoing

Future site of the Starke County Veterans War Memorial Plaza

Efforts continue to raise $50,000 for the Starke County Veterans War Memorial Plaza project.

The county has until July 21 to raise the money in order to get $50,000 in matching funds from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to complete funding for the project.  Donations can be made online by searching for Starke County at www.patronicity.com and submitting a monetary pledge.

The Starke County Veterans War Memorial Plaza is in the process of being constructed on the southeast corner of the Starke County Courthouse Square.  It will feature the names of fallen Starke County soldiers in wars dating back to the Civil War.  It will be accessible for all to view with seating available.  The next step will be the application of concrete by volunteers Nathan Chambers and Doug Allen.  It is the hope of the committee to complete the project by Veteran’s Day when the dedication ceremony would take place.
