Work on Starke County’s Newest Truck Route to Start Monday

County Road 250 N. between Range Road and U.S. 35 in Starke County will be upgraded to a hot mix asphalt road beginning Monday, Aug. 24.

Starke County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler said the project is part of the county’s 10-year truck route plan.  This particular route is an artery to the Starke County Co-Op in Brems.

Rieth-Riley Construction will begin preparations for the paving work Monday with construction on Tuesday.  The work should be complete in a couple of weeks.

The work will be done with an Indiana Department of Transportation Community Crossings Matching Grant in the amount of $462,572 with a 25 percent local match from the county.

Starke County received almost $1 million in Community Crossings grant funds for this and another major project this year.  Rieth-Riley Construction crews just completed the upgrade of Range Road to hot mix asphalt between State Road 10 and Toto Road.
