According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, their contractor Rieth-Riley Construction will close U.S. Highway 35 between County Road 350 South and County Road 400 South on or after Monday, July 7.
The Starke County Commissioners opened three bids last week for the proposed Community Crossings Matching Grant project this year. The project calls for the resurfacing of 700 E. from State Road 8 to County Road 625 S. in Knox.

After two rounds of bidding, the Hamlet Town Council has decided not to pursue grant funding for Railroad Street improvements at this time. Council members voted Wednesday to reject all three paving bids and table a Community Crossings application until the January call for projects.
Paving work on the Eastern Pulaski Schools campus is being held up by the concrete portion of the project. Superintendent Dan Foster gave an update to the school board Monday.
The Eastern Pulaski Schools campus will get major paving and sidewalk upgrades in the coming months. The school board awarded a $2.4-million construction bid to Rieth-Riley Construction Company Monday.
The Eastern Pulaski School Board will decide today whether to move ahead with a large-scale paving project on the schools’ campus. The work would include resurfacing the driveways and most of the parking lots. Plans also call for sidewalk repair and traffic flow updates.
Arens Field is seeing the benefits from some recent upgrades, and a few more improvements may be coming. Thanks to federal and state grant funding, the airport was able to install a new fuel system last year giving pilots access to both jet fuel and low-lead fuel 24 hours a day.
