The Indiana State Board of Education met Wednesday where the members approved placement of A-F school grades.
For the second year, they agreed to hold schools harmless. That means a school may not receive a letter grade lower than the grade received in the 2017-2018 or 2018-2019 school years.
The cancellation of the Spring 2020 administration of the statewide assessments directly impacted the ability to calculate A-F letter grades for the 2019-2020 school year. The Indiana Department of Education compared each school’s grade for the past previous school years and assigned the better grade received by the school among those three school years. Grades were based upon ILEARN proficiency and participation rates and growth in the Elementary and Middle Schools while High Schools were graded on ISTEP+ 10 proficiency and participation rates and growth based on those results. High Schools were also measured on a 2019 cohort for four-year graduate rate and college/career readiness rate, plus a 2018 cohort for five-year improvement score.
The Knox Community School Corporation and Elementary School received a B letter grade while the High School got an A and the Middle School got a D.
The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation and the Elementary School got a C while the Junior/Senior High School got a B
The Oregon-Davis School Corporation and its Junior/Senior High School were given a C letter grade and the Elementary School got an A.
The Eastern Pulaski School Corporation and the Winamac Community Middle School received a B, the Elementary School got a C and the Winamac Community High School got an A.
The West Central School Corporation and the West Central Middle School got a C, the High School got an A, and the Elementary School received a D letter grade.
The Culver Community School Corporation received a B while the Middle/High School received a B and the Elementary School received a C.
South Central Community School Corporation and its Elementary School got a B and the Junior/Senior High School got an A.
The Tri-Township Consolidated School Corporation received a B letter grade while the LaCrosse School got an A and the Wanatah School got a C.
