A proposed one-percent pay raise for Knox City employees will be up for the city council’s final approval tonight. The 2021 salary ordinance will be up for final reading.
Mayor Dennis Estok told council members earlier this month that he’s still trying to be cautious with next year’s budget. “You hate to only give a one-percent and cut it down that much, but we’re still not 100-percent out of the woods, as far as money goes next year,” Estok explained. “I know in the latest estimate for our CEDIT and our LIT tax, they’re both going to get shorted by about $40,000, something like that.”
No increase is being proposed for elected officials, appointed board members, or the city’s attorneys. Tonight’s Knox City Council meeting starts at 7:00 in Knox City Hall.
