North Judson-San Pierre School Board Removes Planned eLearning Days from School Calendar

North Judson-San Pierre students will not have planned eLearning days this school year. The school board recently voted to replace the two planned eLearning days with regular school days in the school calendar.

Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said they were intended to let students work from home while teachers had a full day of professional development. “However, in light of COVID and how we weren’t in school all year last year – and who knows what will happen this year – we really believe that we should be in school as much as we can,” she explained. “And so I’m proposing to take those two eLearning days out and just have regular school days.”

The school board also accepted a $1,000 donation for COVID-19 response from Tri Kappa. Zupin said N.J.-S.P. plans to use that money to help virtual students in need of financial assistance with using their devices.

A COVID-19 virtual learning policy was adopted, as well. Zupin explained that it formalizes some procedures that have already been in place. Once a student signs up for virtual learning, they have to stick with it until the end of the quarter for K-through-eight students or the end of the semester for high school students. The policy also outlines specific attendance requirements.
