Pulaski County businesses have another chance to apply for up to $10,000 in COVID-19 relief. The Community Development Commission has extended the application deadline for its COVID-19 Small Business Grant to Monday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
The county has gotten $250,000 through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ COVID-19 Response Program. That money will be used to give grants to qualifying businesses with 100 or fewer employees.
CDC Executive Director Nathan Origer told the county commissioners Monday that only 17 businesses had applied by the original deadline. That means that even if they’re all given the maximum funding, there would still be almost $74,000 left over. Applications for Pulaski County’s COVID-19 small business grant can be found on the county’s website.
There’s also money set aside in the grant to pay the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission’s $6,250 grant administrator fee. The commissioners officially selected KIRPC as grant administrator Monday. The CDC had already been working with KIRPC, but the county had to do a formal procurement process as part of the grant requirements. Origer said KIRPC’s cost estimate was significantly cheaper than the other one the county had received.
