Winamac town employees will continue working on a modified schedule, due to COVID-19. Town Manager Brad Zellers told the town council Monday that he plans to have utility employees keep working alternate days in smaller crews. “My thought is, we did have a positive case, and if we would’ve been back, we’d all have had it, the way everybody is together,” Zellers said.
But on days when they aren’t doing their regular duties, they’ll be expected to be available to help with leaf pickup. “We’ve got two leaf machines,” Zellers explained. “We’ll keep one in a different place, so the crew that’s on, they do their everyday, normal jobs, then they can do some leaves, while the ones that are off, we can all in, mix and match. They can take the other machine and stay on leaves.”
Zellers said that members of one crew are not to have any contact with members of the other crew. He added that employees are required to disinfect vehicles after using them. Council President Tom Murray suggested getting a fogger to help speed up the process.
