Knox City Hall to Close to Public

The City of Knox is restricting access to government buildings, amid the surge in COVID-19 cases. City Hall will be closed to the public starting Thursday, under a new executive order from Mayor Dennis Estok. Offices will only be open to city employees and those deemed essential by city officials.

All police, fire, utility, planning, and code enforcement services will continue, but some services may be restricted or delayed during the emergency. The mayor encourages residents to make payments online, by phone, or using the drop box.

The Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center will remain open, but gatherings will be limited to 50. That number would decrease to 25, if Starke County’s COVID-19 status changes to red. Government meetings will continue in order to conduct essential business, but they may be modified to meet current restrictions.

Estok reminds residents to wash their hands, cough or sneeze into their elbow, avoid touching their face, stay at least six feet apart, wear a face mask, and stay home if they’re sick.
