A pair of simultaneous brush fires ended up burning nearly 160 acres Tuesday but managed to avoid any structures. That’s according to a Facebook post from the North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters were called to the area of county roads 800 South and 150 West Tuesday afternoon. Five fire departments were eventually on the scene, while three others were placed on standby.
It was one of a few brush fires reported during Tuesday’s high winds. Emergency responders were also called to deal with downed power lines, and NIPSCO was reporting a few scattered outages Tuesday evening.
