The Winamac Park Board members will be looking at different projects for 2021 in the coming weeks.
At their meeting earlier this month, they discussed a few of the projects that could be done, along with plans for the swinging bridge and its upcoming centennial in 2023. One idea included improving an access point to the river at the Winamac Town Park. Board members believe that with the restroom project complete and with more attractions in the Town Park, the river access point should be improved for safety and to offer a shorter river float distance to visitors.
Other projects that were discussed include a splash pad, possible updates to the gazebo, refinishing the picnic tables, and other maintenance issues.
Board President Jon Chapman suggested bringing in members from Purdue Extension, Power from the Past, and coaches to determine what their needs are with the facilities in the Town Park. They also talked about updating the concession stand area.
The board members plan to put together a project schedule during the winter months to tackle once the weather breaks in the spring.
