Pulaski Council to Consider Coroner’s Office Pay and Benefit Adjustments Tonight

The Pulaski County Council will consider a few changes to the Coroner’s Office tonight. Coroner Jon Frain is asking to get the same health insurance and retirement benefits as the county’s other elected officials. As a first step, the county commissioners voted last month to recommend that the council make the coroner a full-time position.

Frain also says the council put money in the 2021 budget to pay his alternate deputy as a part-time hourly employee. But for that to happen, the salary matrix rules need to be adjusted, and the position still needs a formal job description. Those requests go to the county council tonight.

In other business, the council will get an update from EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo and consider a number of budget transfers to close out 2020.

Tonight’s Pulaski County Council meeting starts at 7:00 EST at the Pulaski County Highway Garage, following the council’s joint session with the county commissioners at 6:00. During the joint session, Coroner Frain will present a facility usage fee schedule, and Maintenance Director Mia Salyers will discuss the jail roof.

Before that, the committees set up to help choose construction managers for the Courthouse renovation and Justice Center expansion will meet at 5:15 to make their recommendations. They’ll be presented to the county commissioners in January for a final selection.

Tonight’s meetings will be streamed live on the Pulaski County, Indiana, Government Facebook page.
