Rieth-Riley Selected for Knox Community Crossings Projects

The Knox Board of Works has chosen a contractor for upcoming paving work. Rieth-Riley Construction was recently selected for the city’s Community Crossings projects, as well as an additional parking area in Wythogan Park that isn’t eligible for the matching grant.

Streets to be resurfaced include:

  • Water Street from U.S. 35 to Cleveland Street
  • Prettyman Street from Water Street to Bender Street
  • Bender Street from U.S. 35 to Prettyman Street
  • Cleveland Street from Water Street to 489 feet south of Lake Street
  • Pacific Avenue from County Road 300 East to 185 feet east of County Road 250 East
  • Fisher Street from Clark Street to Bozarth Street
  • Lewis Street from Portland Street to Roosevelt Road
  • Lambert Street from Fisher Street to 120 feet east of Portland Street
  • Bozarth Street from Portland Street to Fisher Street
  • Portland Street from Washington Street to Clark Street

In Wythogan Park, the driveway connecting U.S. 35 to Bridge Street, officially known as Parkway Drive, is set to be upgraded with additional parking.

Rieth-Riley submitted the lowest of three bids for the Community Crossings work, at just under $295,000. The state awarded Knox up to $302,000, but that funding is limited to 75 percent of the project cost. Rieth-Riley’s bid for the additional parking was just under $50,000.

The board of works approved both of those bids, pending the review of Street Superintendent Jeff Borg, Mayor Dennis Estok, and City Attorney Autumn Ferch.
