Star City COVID-19 Testing Site Remains Open despite Low Usage

The OptumServe COVID 19 Testing site in Star City will remain open until at least the end of the month, even though it isn’t seeing much use. Pulaski County Incident Management Team Liaison Nathan Origer told the county commissioners Monday that the Indiana Department of Health wants it to stay open for now.

“A: The contract is good through the end of March at the very least. And B: With new variants popping up, they want to have ample sites remain open until we see that vaccination levels are high enough and that the vaccines are addressing the new variants enough,” Origer said.

The testing site is located at the Star City Community Center at 2550 East Key Street. It’s currently costing the county $700 a month, to pay for the building’s cleaning and utilities.
