LaPorte City Hall will reopen to the public Tuesday. Access had been restricted since March of 2020 due to COVID-19.
The Mayor’s Office says residents entering the building will have to wear masks, and those attending city government meetings in person will also have their temperature taken. The city will continue offering drive-through service and livestreamed meetings.
Mayor Tom Dermody says the availability of vaccines has made him more comfortable with letting the public in the building, and city employees are eager to “have some face time with our citizens.” The COVID-19 precautions at LaPorte City Hall will be reevaluated on a monthly basis.
