LaPorte Mayor Declares Snow Emergency, Parking Restricted

The City of LaPorte has declared a snow emergency. From 7:00 p.m. Monday to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, vehicles may only park on the side of the street with odd-numbered property addresses, according to Mayor Tom Dermody.

LaPorte City Police Respond to Two Shootings Sunday

LaPorte City Police are investigating, after two shootings were reported on Sunday. Two people were reportedly taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds, after officers were called to a disturbance at around 3:00 a.m. in a parking lot across the street from Mickey’s Bar & Grill, according to a statement from the Mayor’s Office.

COVID-19 Testing Options Available in LaPorte, Michigan City

Free COVID-19 testing will be available at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium through the end of the year. Mayor Tom Dermody announced the extension of the city’s OptumServe testing site last week.
