The Starke County Highway Department did not get any Community Crossings grant funding in the most recent round of announcements, but officials will submit the application again in the second call for projects on July 1.
Starke County Highway Department Interim Advisor Bill Crase told the commissioners Monday night that sometimes the county receives Community Crossings funds in the first round and sometimes they are received in the second round. He said he will submit the application in July for the hot mix asphalt project on County Road 700 E. between State Road 8 and County Road 625 S. Office Manager Mary Perren previously reported that the project is part of the department’s ongoing truck route plan.
