Those attending the Northern Indiana Power from the Past show next week will be able to get a COVID-19 vaccine. The Indiana Department of Health mobile vaccination unit will be at the Winamac Town Park July 15 and 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Those 12 and older will be able to get the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, according to the Pulaski County Health Department. Those 18 and up can also choose to get the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.
You can make an appointment at ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. Walk-ins will also be accepted while supplies last. The shots are free, but insurance information and proof of age will be requested. Health officials note that both vaccines are highly effective, and those who are fully vaccinated may gather with fewer social distancing recommendations.
The local area continues to lag behind the state as a whole when it comes to vaccination rate. As of Thursday, around 41 percent of residents age 12 and up are now fully vaccinated in Marshall and Pulaski counties. In Starke County, that percentage is up to 33.
New COVID-19 cases continue trickling in. Thursday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health showed three new cases in Starke County and one each in Marshall and Pulaski counties.
