A mural project in the City of Knox was completed this summer, thanks to a $1,500 Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund grant through the Starke County Community Foundation.
Laura Newman from ‘Drawn by Dagger’ painted the mural on concrete walls that feature daisies in bright colors to help welcome visitors into Wythogan Park in Knox off of the Water Street park entrance. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok was able to get Newman to do the project. He has stated that he is pleased with the outcome.
Newman has received positive feedback from community members and welcomed assistance from nearby residents who supplied her with a cushion to sit on and water to drink, according to information released by the Starke County Community Foundation.
Starke County Community Foundation Director of Development Jacque Ryan stated that the Foundation is “grateful to our donor advisors and community members who support these improvement projects that put an emphasis beautifying Starke County communities.”
