Knox residents’ trash pickup fees will soon be going up. An updated fee ordinance was adopted by the city council last week, according to the draft meeting minutes. It raises the monthly fee to $14.15 this year, $14.72 next year, and finally to $15.30 in 2023.
The increase follows the city’s recent switch to Republic Services. The new prices match the actual cost to the city. For years, Knox had been covering part of the cost with other funding sources.
